While not part of the standard repertory, La sonnambula is performed reasonably frequently in the 21st century. It has been given in three productions with Natalie Dessay, the first at the Santa Fe Opera in 2004, secondly in Paris during the 200607 season, and thirdly at the Metropolitan Opera in 2009, a production which was revived in Spring 2014 with Diana Damrau singing the role of Amina. Richard Bonynge leads what has to be one of the best orchestral performances of a Bellini opera ever recorded. The players of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino don't take a single bar for granted, and achieve an almost Rossinian level of color and humor in a score that is often played by somnambulant orchestras on autopilot. Nicola Monti Elvino and Fernando Corena Rodolfo aren't able to follow Sutherland's lead - Monti suffering from an underpowered and not especially engaging voice, and Corena sliding his ample bass voice a bit too sloppily through the famous Vi ravviso.
