Nelson Coelho de castro nasceu em Porto Alegre no dia 17 de abril de 1954. A vocação pela música vem de casa: escuta desde pequeno a mãe cantarolar clássicos da MPB via Rádio Nacional e o pai a tocar gaita de boca com os tios.
